How SocialMetrics uses data from TikTok, YouTube and Instagram
This page lists, network by network, the permissions SocialMetrics asks for, the data it reads and what it does with it. It completes our Privacy Policy.
- Read-only. SocialMetrics never publishes, edits, deletes, comments, likes or sends messages.
- Official APIs only, after you sign in on the network's own page and accept the permissions. No scraping, no passwords.
- Only for you. The data of your accounts is shown only to you, in your app and your widgets. It is not sold, not shared with other users, not used for advertising, not used to build profiles, and not used to train artificial intelligence models.
- Your control. Disconnect an account or delete your SocialMetrics account at any time (how).
YouTube (Google)
| Permission (scope) | What we read | Why |
|---|---|---|
youtube.readonly | Your channel (ID, name, picture, subscriber and view counts) and your videos (title, thumbnail, duration, publication date, views, likes, comments) | Show your channel and your Shorts next to your other accounts; clip list, ranking, alerts, proof of views |
yt-analytics.readonly | Analytics reports of your own videos (views and engagement by day) | Daily curves, best time to publish, weekly report |
yt-analytics-monetary.readonly | Estimated revenue of your channel, if it is monetised | Show your real YouTube earnings, labelled “real” |
Limited Use. SocialMetrics' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular:
- Google user data is used only to provide and improve the user-facing features described above, which are visible in the app.
- It is not transferred to anyone, except as necessary to provide those features (our hosting provider), to comply with the law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with prior notice to you.
- It is not used or transferred for serving advertisements, including retargeting, personalised or interest-based advertising.
- No human reads it, unless you give your explicit consent for specific data (for example for support), it is necessary for security purposes (investigating abuse), to comply with the law, or the data is aggregated and anonymised for internal operations.
- It is not used to develop, improve or train generalised or non-personalised AI or machine-learning models.
SocialMetrics uses YouTube API Services: see the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke SocialMetrics' access at any time at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. Data obtained from YouTube is refreshed or deleted at least every 30 days, and is deleted within 30 days after you revoke access.
TikTok
| Permission (scope) | What we read | Why |
|---|---|---|
user.info.basic | Account ID (open ID), display name, profile picture | Identify the connected account in the app |
user.info.profile | Profile link, username, verified badge | Open your profile from the app, show the right handle |
user.info.stats | Follower, following, likes and video counts | Account dashboard, daily follower evolution |
video.list | Your public videos: ID, title, cover, duration, date, link, views, likes, comments, shares | Clip list, ranking, alerts, campaign tracking and proof of views |
TikTok does not give access to Creator Rewards earnings. The TikTok amounts shown in the app are therefore calculated estimates, clearly labelled “estimated”.
Instagram (Meta)
Instagram API with Instagram Login, for professional accounts (business or creator) only.
| Permission | What we read | Why |
|---|---|---|
instagram_business_basic | Account ID, username, profile picture, follower count, list of your media (Reels) with date, caption, cover and link | Show your account and your Reels with your other accounts |
instagram_business_manage_insights | Statistics of your account and your Reels (views, reach, likes, comments, shares, saves) | Dashboards, ranking, alerts, campaign tracking and proof of views |
Data deletion: delete your account in the app or follow these instructions. Removing SocialMetrics from your Instagram “Apps and websites” settings also deletes the data of that account within 30 days.
